The Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (“TİTCK”) recently announced the results of its cosmetics sector market surveillance and inspection conducted between October and December 2018.
What Do the Results Say?
The TİTCK’s Cosmetics Supervision Department published the list of unsafe and non-compliant cosmetics products detected during the fourth quarter of 2018. Of the 524 cosmetic products inspected, 161 were non-compliant and 5 were unsafe. A total fine of TRY 270,362 (approximately USD 51,000) was levied against the responsible companies.
The cosmetic products safety results reveal that there is an increase in the number of non-compliant products. However, total amount of administrative fines have decreased remarkably compared to the Q3 results. The TİTCK’s continues to strictly inspect the healthcare sector to increase the compliance of cosmetic products with the technical legislation.
